Endemic to Honduras, the Celaque mushroom tongue salamander inhabits moist, lower montane forests and the sides of streams. Habitat loss due to frequent forest fires and land conversion for subsistence agriculture has endangered this species, forcing much of the remaining population to live in isolated fragments of habitat.
