The Panamanian night monkey is a small, nocturnal monkey that inhabits lowland, submontane forests and relies on healthy ecosystems for its diet of fruit, plants, and small animals and insects. The Panamanian night monkey has been documented in areas of Panama and Colombia, however the health of the species as a whole has not yet been established on the IUCN due to a lack of adequate data concerning its population numbers and the exact nature of threats to its wellbeing. Anecdotal evidence indicates its numbers are shrinking due to hunting, the pet trade, and destruction of its habitat.
