In the Municipality of Livingston, Guatemala, EcoLogic is helping develop environmentally sustainable small enterprises with local leadership to empower women of three rural Maya K'ekchi' communities. By working directly with three Women's Committees with ten members each to implement the project activities, the EcoLogic team aims to help provide and grow sustainable livelihood options for local women in an area where farming and fishing are the primary sources of subsistence. Workshop on baking local bread and pastries held on February 15, 2022. The project focuses on building the Women's Committees' administrative, financial, and organizational capacities to enable women to lead the decision-making process, participate in the local economy, earn an income, and take a leadership role in conserving the local ecosystem. The main goal of the project is to empower women to provide for their families' well-being and reduce unsustainable production practices that degrade natural resources. The EcoLogic team is working with its local partner APROSARSTUN and the Municipal Office of Women of Livingston to ensure the long-term sustainability of the initiative.
